Four-time Bathurst 1000 winner Greg Murphy and former Australian Touring Car Championship and V8 Supercars Championship racer Steven Richards will both drive at the new Super Touring Power event at Brands Hatch on 1/2 July.
New Zealander Murphy will race a Peter Sturgeon-owned Nissan Primera at the new meeting which will feature Super Touring races on both the Grand Prix and Indy circuits across the weekend. Compatriot Richards will race a Volvo S40 owned by Lindsay O'Donnell, a machine raced in-period by his father Jim Richards.
In addition to that, Murphy will be reunited with the Tasman Motorsport Holden VE Commodore he drove in 2008 and 2009, a period in which he shared the machine with Australian motorsport legend Mark Skaife at Mount Panorama. The Aussie V8 is now owned by UK-based Holden collector Alex Sidwell and Murphy will take to the track with it in special demonstration sessions.
This will be a first competitve outing at the iconic Kent circuit for both drivers, whilst Murphy's appearance in the Holden will be the first time an Aussie V8 has been driven on-circuit at the venue by a genuine period driver.
Richards and Murphy are the latest big name drivers to have entered the Classic Touring Car Racinc Club's Super Touring category, following regular outings from British Touring Car Championship legends John Cleland and Anthony Reid over the past year.
Four Super Touring races will top the bill at Super Touring Power, with two Saturday races on the Grand prix circuit followed by a Sunday double-header on the shorter Indy layout. There will also be a full line-up of retro tin top races spanning multiple generations across a host of grids in addition to displays and demonstrations.
Discounted advance tickets for Super Touring Power at Brands Hatch on 1/2 July are available from £25 with free entry for under-13s. For more information click here.
