BTCC FP2: Ingram sets hot pace ahead of Brands Hatch qualifying

08 October 2022

Tom Ingram raised the heat in the final Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship practice session of 2022, topping the times with an effort of 1m30.213s at sunny Brands Hatch.

The Hyundai i30N ace set his best time of the 40-minute session on his final tour of the full Grand Prix circuit to edge out the opposition by almost four-tenths. Bobby Thompson was second quickest in his Cupra Leon with Daniel Lloyd completing the top-three in another EXCELR8-run Hyundai.

Championship outsider Colin Turkington fared the next best out of Ingram's title rivals in fourth place, after leading the order during the opening exchanges of the session. The factory BMW driver ended up 0.430s adrift of Ingram's outright pace in the last track action before qualifying.

Of the other drivers in with a chance of being crowned as champion this weekend, Jake Hill was ninth in the ROKiT MB Motorsport BMW, whilst series leader and reigning title winner Ash Sutton rounded out the top-ten.

Sutton's NAPA Racing UK teammate Dan Cammish set the fifth fastest time of the session one place ahead of Jason Plato who secured sixth in his final practice period as a full-time BTCC competitor. George Gamble in seventh and Daniel Rowbottom in eighth were the other runners towards the top of the order.

The final BTCC qualifying session of 2022 is due to start at 15:40.
