British Truck Racing: Expect fireworks as titles are decided at Brands Hatch

28 October 2024

Two titles remain up for grabs in the British Truck Racing Championship ahead of the series’ deciding rounds at Brands Hatch this weekend (2/3 November). A Saturday double-header will be followed by three more races from the giants of British motorsport on Sunday when they headline the annual Trucks and Fireworks in association with Dynes spectacular.

Sparks will fly on the circuit and off it with these racing heavyweights battling on the Indy circuit all weekend long before the Kent circuit’s season comes to a close with the traditional fireworks display on Sunday evening.

In Division 1, history could be made as Ryan Smith bids to claim what would be a remarkable ninth title in a row. The Daimler Freightliner racer has been an almost unstoppable force in the premier class for almost a decade now and he arrives at Brands Hatch with one hand on the crown.

The chasing pack should challenge Smith this weekend, but recent clean sweeps have put Smith in a very strong position and there is a possibility he could already be champion come Sunday morning. If that is the case, it should set up a no holds barred trio of concluding races as the truck racers aim to end the season on a high.

Others to look out for in the leading class will include local racer Steven Powell and former champion David Jenkins. Both enter the final weekend of the season with little to lose and everything to gain – so don’t expect them to give up the title without a fight.

The Division 2 fight should be much closer, with John Powell and Simon Cole preparing to battle head-to-head for honours. Both drivers have been locked in a fight for the Division 2 prize al season.

The British Truck Racing Championship headlines a busy race programme at Brands Hatch as the venue hosts its final races of 2024 this Saturday and Sunday. But there will be a full programme of support races across the two days as well – click here to view the full timetable.

Weekend and Sunday tickets for Trucks and Fireworks in association with Dynes are expected to sell out in advance so book quickly if you wish to attend. Tickets are also available for Saturday’s British Truck Racing action with no fireworks. Under-13s go FREE – click here for more information.
