SpeedFest: Doubek takes first EuroNASCAR 2 win of the Brands Hatch weekend

08 June 2024

Czech racer Martin Doubek produced a strong drive on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit to win his fourth EuroNASCAR 2 race of the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season this afternoon (Saturday).

The current series leader produced a stellar drive to pull clear of his rivals and appeared to have the race well under control as the race surged past the halfway point. The pack was bunched up following a safety car period however, with the race neutralized in response to an off-track moment for Simone Giussani.

The race resumed for a short dash to the line, with Doubek once again demonstrating controlling things impressively from the front to pass the chequered flag first after 34 laps of action.

Claudio Remigio Cappelli was his nearest challenger after a spirited performance at the wheel of his Ford Mustang. The Italian was part of a group of cars bottled up behind Gil Linster early on but found himself in second when the race resumed after the safety car period.

Doubek’s sublime drive ahead left the Italian fending off Thomas Krasonis for second. And despite some brief moments when the car appeared to be right on the edge, Cappelli held on soundly to secure second with Krasonis third.

Patrick Shober finished fourth as part of the same leading group, with Jack Davidson just behind to secure the first top-five NASCAR result of the weekend for a British driver. Behind that, Linster dropped to sixth after running second earlier on, with Melvin De Groot, Thomas Dombrowski, Julien Rehnberg and Victor Neumann completing the top-10.
