Brands Hatch set for mega British Truck Racing Championship decider

24 October 2023

Two titles are up for grabs when the British Truck Racing Championship returns to Brands Hatch as the headline act at this year’s Truck Racing and Fireworks spectacular on 4/5 November. Three drivers remain in the hunt for the outright Division One title with a further four in Division Two contention.

It’s multiple reigning British Truck Racing Champion Ryan Smith who leads the way in Division One ahead of the final five races of the season, with two on Saturday before three on the Sunday ahead of the fireworks display. He leads 10-time British Truck Racing Champion Stuart Oliver by 32 points, with 75 still available for race wins in addition to bonuses for fastest laps.

That puts Smith firmly in the driving seat on paper, but it’s rarely that simple in motor racing and the unpredictable nature of the British Truck Racing Championship could very quickly see things tilt in his rival’s favour.

Another element to look out for is serial British Truck Racing frontrunner David Jenkins who is just five points adrift of Oliver’s total. All three drivers know what it takes to succeed at Brands Hatch and whoever comes out on top will surely deserve the crown.

In the Division Two class for trucks run with fewer bespoke track modifications, series leader Adam Bint leads Paul Rivett by just a single point. There really isn’t anything between the leading duo and with points decreasing in increments of just one, it really could be a single moment that decides the outcome of this one.

John Powell and Craig Evans are slightly further back but both remain in mathematical contention to set up a four-way showdown.
