Kyle Ryde snatched the leading position in the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship Free Practice at Brands Hatch, setting the fastest time of the session on his final lap to displace Tommy Bridewell from the top by 0.124s.
Bridewell had set the benchmark for the majority of the session as he chases down a debut title, but Ryde had the edge at the chequered flag with Luke Mossey back inside the top three for the Tactix by Lloyd and Jones BMW team.
Ryan Vickers was eased into fourth place in the closing stages, just ahead of leading rookie Charlie Nesbitt who completed the top five for MasterMac Honda by Hawk Racing.
Jason O'Halloran was sixth fastest on the leading McAMS Yamaha as his teammate Niccolò Canepa rounded out the top ten as the team prepare for their final weekend in action.
Christian Iddon was seventh fastest for the Oxford Products Racing Ducati team, as Storm Stacey was back inside the top ten in eighth ahead of Bradley Perie.
Lee Jackson was outside of the top ten in 12th place with Glenn Irwin in 14th and Leon Haslam in 17th.
