About Brands Hatch

One of the world's most iconic sporting venues, Brands Hatch hosts some of motorsport's most prestigious events on two and four wheels.

About

The Kent circuit is visited by a huge variety of championships, including the sublime supercar racing of the GT World Challenge Europe and the finale destination for the always excellent Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Other major events include the British GT and GB3 series, and the British Truck Racing Association Championship which visits twice, including the end-of-year fireworks spectacular which features one of the south east's biggest pyrotechnic displays to round off the motorsport season.

A series of motorsport festivals have introduced the sport to new audiences, headlined by American SpeedFest which brings epic action from European NASCAR racing. Joined by the wonderful Mini Festival and glorious Festival Italia, these events provide all-round family fun.

Brands Hatch remains a mecca for historic racing too, featuring annual visits from the Masters Festival and the HSCC Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix, with historic Formula 1 races an annual highlight.

A natural amphitheatre offering unrivalled views of the action from various vantage points, Brands Hatch is known as Britain's best-loved motor racing circuit which offers visitors the chance to get on track themselves with an array of driving experiences and trackdays.

History

Brands Hatch boasts an unrivalled history dating back nearly 100 years when grass track racing took place on an anti-clockwise Indy layout before it was reversed in 1954.

Legendary drivers and riders have competed and won at the circuit over the decades including Formula 1 greats Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham, Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton and Motorcycle legends Barry Sheene and Carl Fogarty

Nigel Mansell famously claimed his first Grand Prix victory at the Kent circuit in 1985, also winning the final Formula 1 World Championship race at the venue a year later. The circuit then became the spiritual home of the World Superbike Championship in the 1990s and 2000s, attracting tens of thousands of fans. Many followed Fogarty as he took a stranglehold on the series with his double win in 1995 delighting the home crowd.

The stands were full again when the circuit hosted the first A1 Grand Prix in 2005, while the always-popular Formula Ford Festival featured winners including Formula 1 champion Jenson Button.

Brands Hatch continues to make history, hosting the successful road cycling events at the 2012 Paralympic Games. Indeed, Alex Zanardi’s performances were voted the number one moment of the Paralympics by the International Paralympic Committee.

In 2013, Brands became one of only a handful of circuits in the world to stage F1, Indycar and NASCAR events when the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series made its debut at the American Speedfest.

Brands Hatch’s unique combination of dips, cambers, fearsome corners and hills means it is still one of the world’s favourite racing circuits and continues to go from strength to strength.
